Gardens demand a design that is more liberated than enclosed spaces, mirroring our behavior within them. As a result, straight lines give way to meandering paths, levels become gently sloped, shapes take on irregular forms, and materials abound with rich colors and textures.
The primary objective in designing this residence was to seamlessly integrate the building into the natural topography of the land and establish a harmonious relationship with its surroundings. Consequently, the garden unfolds across multiple levels, allowing the property’s entrance to smoothly merge with both the building and its elevated perimeter courtyard atop a small hill.
A cluster of mature pine trees, the area surrounding the pool, the building’s entrance, and the terraced spaces all possess distinct character and purpose. These functional and aesthetically connected zones are delineated by low plantings, creating transitional surfaces covered in lush green grass.
